Congratulations
to Heard Museum Market Award Winners!
Plus highlights
from our trunk show with Hyrum Joe
Greetings
Friends:
We would like to take this
opportunity to congratulate the many artists we represent for
their recent achievements at this year's Heard Museum Market!
Congratulations, Hyrum
Joe!
In a moment of great anticipation,
Hyrum was awarded Best of Classification in Painting for a work
titled Last Dance with Geronimo. This award further establishes
Hyrum as a recognizable talent in the top tier. We couldn't be
more pleased. Be sure to watch for his feature article in an
upcoming issue of Southwest Art Magazine!
Top honors in pottery went
to Damian Toya for an elegant micaceous swirling vase. In the
traditional, native clay, hand built and painted category, Thomas
Tenorio took first place with a traditional Santo Domingo Dough
Bowl, and Rainy Naha took second place with a beautiful Hopi
Quail Jar - beating out hundreds of other entries in this highly
competitive category!

of Class) with her Prairie Chicken Dancer; Molly Murphy with her Raspberry Confection Purse; and
Dallin Maybee for both his beaded ledger books and his
hand-painted rawhide drum.
Another pair of notable
beadwork artists were on the scene at the Heard for the first
time: Joyce
and Juanita Growing
Thunder Fogarty. Juanita won second place for her ornately decorated
toy cradle board. Both mother and daughter sold out, with collectors
clamoring for the chance to acquire one of these highly coveted
creations.
Best of Class for Baskets
went to Sally Black for a work titled Mother and Father Sky;
and a great many number of other awards were given out to exciting
new creations by emerging artists and top-tier talent in every
category and class.

Finally, we'd like to thank
everybody who made our show an amazing success. Over the course
of three days we exhibited the very best of our collection and
were joined by old friends as well as new faces. Hyrum Joe brought
over a dozen new pieces for this event and took time to demonstrate
his award winning talent on Saturday evening. We hope you enjoyed
our exhibit, and if we missed you - please plan to attend next
year!
In the meantime, stay tuned
for great new artwork we acquired during the Heard Market this
year. There will be pottery, plains art, paintings, and much,
much more!
