Mike & Jennifer Moquino
Santa Clara

Feeding Frenzy

2 1/2" H x 2" D

Jennifer is the daughter of Ray Tafoya from Santa Clara Pueblo. He taught her about pottery which she began showing in 1992. She has taken many awards and recently placed first in her division at the Santa Fe Indian Market. She does the finely etched work like her father, but with even more exquisite detail.

Her most recent foray into the Santa Fe Indian Market netted her and her husband three ribbons - one for each entry. They sold out first thing on the opening morning of the market. With work like this, it is no surprise.

She is one of the brightest new artists from Santa Clara pueblo working in the sgraffito area. Her incising work is particularly detailed and precise - revealing great accuracy and fabulous use of color. Her themes are wildlife in stunning realist detail with fabulous traditional Santa Clara geometrics adding a great finish to her work.

With her recent marriage to Mike Moquino, together they are producing outstanding work. Every piece is new and special. Her images continue to change, and the added multi-colored slips makes for wonderful finished work!
