Joyce Sisneros
Santa Clara
Harvest Storyteller

Look at this incredible set
of pueblo children sitting in their mother's lap as they frolick
and play - singing and story-telling. In trademark fashion, Joyce
Sisneros has magically captured the charm and beauty of Pueblo
life at harvest time.
This piece was made especially
for us by the artist, and represents one of the few opportunities
to collect a recent work by the highly coveted Storyteller maker,
Joyce Sisneros. Her pieces are rarely sold to galleries, as Joyce
spends most of her time filling a back log of orders for collectors
from around the world.
Joyce is a member of the Santa
Clara Pueblo. Her ancestors lived in sandstone caves at the Puye
Cliffs located in New Mexico on the Santa Clara Indian Reservation
from 1300 to about 1550 A. D.
Joyces art (storytellers)
depicts stories told by her ancestors at the Pueblo. Joyce has
mastered the native clay used by her people to sculpt unique
works of art. She reminds us that her figures in clay recreate
those every day activities that all people in the human family
might do.
She has won many awards for
her sculptures, including awards at Santa Fe Indian Market, the
Heard Museum's Guild Market, and many others. Her works are found
in many prized collections.
