Arnold Holmes
Zuni Warrior
10 1/4"
H with 3/4" base
The Zuni Warrior Kachina is
a traditional representation of what the Hopi believe the powerful
Zuni Warriors to be. He is said to be a very fast runner. When
he appears in the Hopi dances, he moves so rapidly that only
the younger men can keep up with him.
The Zuni Warrior may often
be found among the Hopi Dancers as a Guard, as well as a Runner
Kachina. Let this great warrior stand to keep the peace in your
home, as well as protect and guard it. This warrior comes in
a variety of colors, and is a favorite of the Arnold's.
Arnold Holmes is the son of
Arthur Holmes Sr., and brother to Arthur Jr. He is also very
talented as a carver, and his ability speaks for itself in this
incredible rendition of the White Bear kachina.
Many similarities can be seen
throughout the work of this family - including the amazing detail
in the hands and fur. Arnold's work is looking more and more
like Arthur's all the time.
We were very impressed with
this piece. The detail and proportion in the anatomy is amazing
in a piece of this size.
